Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing (2Co 2:14-15).

To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? (2Co 2:16).

“What is that smell?” I am sure you have heard or said that at some point. Everything has a smell. Everyone has a scent. Some people smell good; others smell bad; really bad. Some people enhance their smell with cheap or expensive cologne. Others mask their body odor with some perfume. Sometimes to no avail. The thing is, we all smell because we were created that way; to emanate some aromatic effervescence.

We can try, but cannot hide or suffocate smell, whether it is aromatic or pungent. Smell projects far to attract or repel. From far away flies seek dead things by their pungent odor to devour them, but honeybees are enticed to the smell of fragrant spring flowers to pollinate them. Aromatic smell prescribes a lifestyle that creates the environment for the many blessings of God (Gen 8:21). So, what is your smell?

Aroma of Life

Life is fragrant; sweet-scented and infused with aromatic herbs of natural and spiritual cultures. We are designed to smell sweet and to offer that sweet-smelling savor to God, the Father of all things that smell good. However, in reality, everyone does not smell that good. According to the Bible, some people smell really bad like death because they are dying without knowing Jesus the Christ. However, those who have Christ are the pleasant smell of life because they are living in Him (2Cor 2:15).

A good fragrance is not cheap. It cost the life and sacrifice of Jesus on the cross to make us smell good and savory to God and humanity (Eph 5:2Php 4:18). God, our Heavenly Father loves you with an everlasting love. He wants you to have a lifestyle scented by the sweet fragrance of Christ, which entices the entire world; reminding those who are saved, of His love and grace; and to the unsaved of His love and mercy to save them from impending death (2Cor 2:16). So, how do you smell?

Smell good this Easter, be a sweet-smelling savor (2Cor 2:14).
